About Counselling

We all struggle sometimes. Events and experiences in our lives can be challenging and distressing, perhaps leaving us feeling upset and uncertain, ill at ease or stuck, unsure how to move forward. At such times it can be really helpful to carve out a weekly space in which to explore your difficulties with a professionally qualified Counsellor/ Psychotherapist.

The toll being taken on our mental health and well-being by the effects of the Corona Virus pandemic and local / national lockdowns have been well publicised . Perhaps you have been negatively impacted in this way , and are either experiencing new emotional difficulties thrown up by the Covid-19 restrictions on your life , or these may have served to highlight or exacerbate your existing struggles.

I provide a confidential, supportive and non-judgmental environment in which you can express and work through your difficulties. As a trained Counsellor, I will not tell you what you should do , but together we will have time and space for you to process your thoughts and feelings, and explore your relationships, with a view to understanding yourself better, making sense of your life, and discovering your inner resources . This process will enable you to feel more secure in yourself , create options for you and empower you to move forward with your life.

Counselling Sessions

I offer one-to-one counselling sessions for individual adult clients (age18+) on a range of issues including stress, anger, anxiety and depression , grief and loss, low self-esteem and relationship issues.

At the moment Counselling sessions are  being offered via online video conferencing platforms (eg Zoom) during the current restrictions on face-to-face working.

Sessions are 50 minutes each .

If you would like to explore whether Counselling is right for you at this time , please message me and I will then contact you to discuss briefly what is prompting you to come for counselling, answer any immediate questions you have , then make an appointment for an 'Initial Assessment' , which will go through your issues in more detail , and give an opportunity to see if we are the right 'fit' for working together . Following this we can arrange a number of regular sessions for you . I usually suggest a minimum of 8 sessions to start with, after which our work can be reviewed and extended or brought to an agreed ending as desired.

Fees:

Introductory contact / phone call etc : Free

Initial Assessment Appointment : £30

Individual Counselling Sessions : £44 each .

Concessions may be available for students , counselling trainees , those on low incomes and key workers . Please contact me to discuss .
